ROYAL WHIMSY 👑💜
puppetry and paint
Hallo!! I'm Jennifer Lynn Bain, a visual and performing artist who attempts to bring a little bit of joy to each day for myself and others. From puppets and props to a plethora*** of vibrant paintings, I'm a Jen (with one ’n') who makes versatile, whimsical creations on a wide variety of subjects and mediums. The art of puppetry brings me immense joy. My puppets have appeared with me in music videos, variety shows, stage productions and most recently a reboot of a little television show called Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock. Each year I create and perform an original piece for the Dolly Wiggler Cabaret, Calgary’s annual Puppet Slam, part of Calgary’s renown Festival of Animated Objects. Some of my pieces can be seen here. I also act in stage productions and am a Senior Improvisor at the Loose Moose Theatre, Canada's original improv comedy spot. My graphic design, illustration, set decoration, and prop fabrication has been featured in commercials, films, and television shows such as Fargo, Wynonna Earp, and The Detour. (See a somewhat-complete list on my IMDB page.) *** “- El Guapo: Jefe, what is a plethora? - Jefe: Why, El Guapo? - El Guapo: Well, you told me I have a plethora. And I just would like to know if you know what a plethora is. I would not like to think that a person would tell someone he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has no idea what it means to have a plethora. - Jefe: Forgive me, El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education. But could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on me?” |
new graphics!
Nothing breaks my heart more than when someone loses a fuzz-face. I drew this little guy by snooping for reference photos of his adventures wearing assorted hats and having fun in boats.
commission with an added surprise...
new paintings!
"Art is a small escape. I like my art to be vibrant, fun, unpretentious and approachable.
I create it to make myself smile and if it appeals to someone else, that’s all the better."
